Slovenia signs Memorandum of Understanding

With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on 20 April Slovenia became the seventh beneficiary state to receive funds through the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. NOK 100 million will be granted to Slovenia till 2009.

15/02/2006 :: Norwegian Deputy State Secretary Per Ludvig Magnus and Slovenian State Secretary for European Affairs Marcel Koprol signed the MoU in Ljubljana on 20 April, which will soon be followed by a signing of the EEA Financial Mechanism.

During his visit Deputy State Secretary Magnus participated in a discussion on shared experiences in the management of energy resources, which included relevant actors from both the Norwegian and Slovenian energy sector.

Together the two Financial Mechanisms will focus on environmental projects, as well as sustainable development, cultural heritage, health, children, the judicial area and research.

An individual NGO fund is also planned to be established under the Financial Mechanisms.
