Norwegian Defence Minister to meet with EU Troika

Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen, Minister of Defence, are attending a meeting with EU Troika in Brussels on 21 November.

15/02/2006 :: The Minister will together with colleagues from Iceland, Turkey and Croatia meet with the EU Troika to discuss the latest development of the European Security and Defence Policy (ESPD). The meeting will be held in the margins of  EU’s formal Defence Ministers meeting the same day.The Troika +4 meeting is a forum where the EU presedency briefs and consults with the European non-EU NATO-countries and candidate-country Croatia on current security and defence issues and aims to enhance the dialogue between EU and NATO.

Amongst the topics to be discussed are the the latest developments of the EU civil and military operations, development of defence capabilities and the increasing focus on civil-military cooperation within crisis management. During her visit in Brussels, Ms Strøm-Erichsen will also meet with NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.
