Norwegian Chairmanship of the EFTA Standing Committee – Focus on transparency and public access

During the the first half of 2005, Norway is having the chairmanship of the EFTA Standing Committee, which is the highest executive body of the EEA EFTA States in management of the EEA-Agreement. The priorities of the Norwegian chairmanship was presented at the first meeting of the Standing Committee in 2005, on 3. February.

09/02/2005 :: The main Norwegian priorities for the coming chairmanship period can be summarised as follows:

· Good functioning of the EEA
· Transparency and public access to EEA doucuments
· EEA EFTA participation in decision-shaping
· Implementation of the Financial Mechanisms
· Horiontal issues (Internal Market, Lisbon Strategy, Enlargement, European Neighbourhood Policy, Constitutional Treaty)
