The High North - top of the world - top of the EU agenda?

16/02/2007 :: The Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jonas Gahr Støre, held a speech at the Institute of European Affairs in Dublin today: "Are the European countries sufficiently aware of the developments in the High North? The short answer is “yes – and no”. “Yes” in terms of the general awareness of energy supply issues, but “no” if in terms of the full range of issues, opportunities and challenges the High North represents, for the whole of Europe." + More

Humanitarian relief to Sri Lanka

15/08/2006 :: Norway is providing humanitarian relief worth Sri Lankan Rupees 150 million (USD 1.5 million) to Sri Lanka. The Norwegian government has urged both sides to an immediate cessation of hostilities. Today a Norwegian envoy will make a long-planned visit to Sri Lanka for talks with the parties. + More

Mahmoud Abbas in Oslo

09/05/2006 :: The Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, is visiting Norway today. One of the topics on the agenda during his visit is how Norwegian assistance to the Palestinians could continue in the current situation, including alternative channels for providing support. As the EU, Norway is among the main contributors of aid to the Palestinian people. + More
