Erik Solheim, Norwegian Minister of International Development, visits Brussels on 19 December to participate in co-chair meeting on Sri Lanka and to have talks with EU and NATO.
16/12/2005 :: The Minister of International Development will attend a co-chair meeting on Sri Lanka, where the Commissioner responsible for External Relations and the European Neighbourhood Policy, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, will participate.
In addition to this, Solheim is scheduled to have talks with Stefano Manservisi, Director General of DG Development. On the agenda are topics related to development policy, amongst others Africa and the current situation in Sudan.
Erik Solheim will also have meetings with NATO Assistant Secretary General, Political Affairs and Security Policy, Martin Erdmann, and Ambassador Maurits Jochems, responsible for NATO support operation in Pakistan. Included in the topics for the meetings are the role of NATO in relief- and crisis situations and NATO’s role in Darfur.
