EU commends Minister Solheim

14/02/2006 :: On the 31 January 2006 the European Union issued a declaration to welcome new talks on the agreement by the government of Sri Lanka and the LTTE, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. The work of the Norwegian Minister of International Development, Erik Solheim, is said to be of high importance to make this process as peaceful as possible. + More

Additional €38 million for disaster victims

12/10/2005 :: The Norwegian government will submit a proposal to the Storting for an additional development assistance allocation of €38 million (300 million NOK) for the victims of natural disasters. The main share would be earmarked for those affected by the disasters in Pakistan and Central America. + More

Norway provides additional €1 million for Niger

28/07/2005 :: Additional €1 million (NOK 8 million) in emergency relief in connection with the famine in Niger has been allocated by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Norway has now provided a total of €4 million (NOK 31.5 million) for emergency relief efforts in Niger. + More
