Negotiations on annual fisheries agreement between Norway and the EU were concluded last week.
05/12/2005 :: On Friday 2 December, Norway and the European Union concluded the negotiations on a bilateral fisheries agreement for 2006. The Parties agreed on the fishing quotas for the seven joint fish stocks in the North Sea as well as on the exhange of quotas. They also agreed on a revised management plan for cod aiming at a higher long term yield.
During the negotiation, the issue of fisheries control was particularly highlighted and the part of the agreement pertaining to control and enforcement was further strengthened inter alia to include the combat against illegal, unregulated and unreported fisheries
