Norway has decided to allocate a total of NOK 35 million for emergency measures to address the migration crisis in Greece. Read more

The authorities in Greece and Norway have agreed that an additional NOK 31 million of the funds provided to Greece under the EEA and Norway Grants should be used to deal with the flow of refugees into Greece. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is launching a new strategy today for efforts to promote freedom of expression. ‘Freedom of expression and independent media are under growing pressure. More than 1500 participants are set to attend the 10 year anniversary of Arctic Frontiers held in Tromsø, Norway. The conference takes place on 24-29 January and is an important arena for discussions on Arctic issues. The Ministry of Justice and Public Security has instructed the Directorate of Immigration (UDI) and the Immigration Appeals Board (UNE) to reject applications from asylum seekers arriving in Norway after having resided in Russia, without considering individual cases in depth. Read more

Thursday 26 November, the Norwegian government introduced temporary border controls, to prevent people without the required travel documents from entering the country. Read more

In response to the large number of asylum seekers entering the country, the Norwegian Government has proposed legislative amendments that among other things will enable the swift return of certain asylum seekers. Read more
