Norway signs a framework agreement with the EU on participation in EU-led crisis management operations

 Date:06/12/2004

A framework agreement between Norway and the EU on the participation of Norway in EU-led crisis management operations was signed by Ambassador Bjørn T. Grydeland on 3 December. The framework agreement is mainly an administrative agreement that gives guidelines and procedures for participation, chain of command and financial aspects.

Norway is one of eight third states that has been invited to enter into a framework agreement with the EU. It will be enforced for the first time in connection with Norway’s participation in Althea, EU’s military operation in Bosnia-Hercegovina, that was launched 2 December.
