Brende discussed waste with European colleagues

On 14 – 16 May Minister of Environment Børge Brende took part in the EU Informal Ministerial Meeting on Environment in Waterford, Ireland to discuss policy issues in the context of two upcoming Thematic Strategies on Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and on Prevention and Recycling of Waste. The Irish Presidency had invited ministers from the EEA EFTA countries together with the EU-25 and the Applicant States to exchange views on these issues. The discussion focused particularly on key challenges that must be addressed as part of a new policy approach towards waste prevention and recycling. Environment Commissioner Margot Wallström updated the Ministers on current Commission thinking on resources use, Integrated Product Policy and waste policies.
