The Bologna process is seeking to develop a Higher Education Area in Europe with more transparent systems, better quality and efficiency, as well as more mobility and cooperation across borders. The working group on the external dimension of the process is responsible for developing a strategy for cooperation between the Bologna countries and other parts of the world.
More than 40 countries are members of the Bologna cooperation, which has lasted since 1999.
