Norway joins European cooperation on offshore wind power

Last updated: 08.06.2009 // Norway will enter the Joint Declaration on Cooperation in the Field of Research on Offshore Wind Energy Deployment, a cooperation programme on offshore wind power development established last year by Denmark, Sweden and Germany. Norway has recently been invited to participate in this programme.

Concretely, the programme is about facilitating knowledge sharing at the governmental level, on technical and legal issues as well as on challenges related to the development of effective R&D policies. Infrastructural challenges will, among others, be a relevant topic.

- Considering the important role offshore wind power might play in the energy system of the future, this programme is of great interest to Norway. We must ensure a good dialogue with countries that have already made experiences with this technology, as this will help us to learn from each other, and thereby better to reach our shared objectives. I have therefore accepted the invitation, says Minister of Petroleum and Energy Terje Riis-Johansen.
